BALTIMORE, MARYLAND -- MAY 5, 2005 - The Board of Directors of the Adams Express Company has elected David R. Schiminger to Vice President-Research effective April 27, 2005. Mr. Schiminger has been with the Company since 2002 as a research analyst covering the healthcare and consumer staples sectors. Prior to joining the Company, he was a vice president at Mercantile-Safe Deposit and Trust and an equity analyst at Croft-Leominster.

After graduating with honors from Washington and Lee University, Mr. Schiminger received an MBA degree from the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the Baltimore Security Analysts Society.

The Adams Express Company is a Baltimore-based closed-end investment company. It is traded on the New York Stock Exchange and Pacific Exchange, and its symbol is ADX.
